Meeting with Aboriginal Tent Embassy
On May 11, Ambassador Abdulhadi and the Embassy Staff met with the representatives of the Aboriginal Tent Embassy at the Palestinian Embassy premises in Canberra. Topics discussed included the similar settler-colonial histories of the Palestinian people and First Nations people, as well as the importance of engaging in systematic, constant and regular consultations between the two Embassies.
This meeting was an opportunity for the Palestinian Embassy Staff to learn more about the history and struggles of Indigenous peoples here in Australia, the state of their political and socioeconomic rights, as well as many of the important views and priorities of the Aboriginal Tent Embassy going forward.
Additionally, the Palestinian Embassy Staff provided in-depth analysis of the history and struggles of the Palestinian people against Israeli colonisation, occupation, and violations of Palestinian human rights.
