PLO Executive Committee Member Dr. Hanan Ashrawi marked International Women’s Day (March 8) and issued the following statement:

Controversy continues to court tomorrow's arrival in Australia of Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

The General Delegation of Palestine would like to congratulate Charlie (Khalil) Shahin on being nominated as the first Palestinian-Australian Officer of the Order of Australia for his distinguished service to business and commerce, and his philanthropy as an advocate for corporate social responsibility, and to the multicultural community. 

In response to media inquiries regarding recent comments by a White House official on the two-state solution, PLO Executive Committee Member Dr. Hanan Ashrawi made the following comments:

While thousands of Palestinians in besieged Gaza are being terrorized by Israeli bombardments, the Israeli parliament has just approved a law to legalize theft of Palestinian land. Looting is illegal. All Israeli settlements in Occupied Palestine are illegal and a war crime regardless of any law passed by the Israeli...

PLO Executive Committee Member Dr. Hanan Ashrawi strongly denounced the adoption of the “Regularization Law” that legalizes Israel’s annexation of privately owned Palestinian land on which illegal settlements and outposts were constructed in the occupied West Bank:

Israel continues to systematically violate the rights of the Palestinian people and to give a green light and support for settlers to take over more Palestinian land and to terrorize the Palestinian population. This immoral situation shouldn't continue to be tolerated by the International community. It has to end.
